In 2007, Rev Russell Reynoldson, Minister of the Emerald-Fernlees Congregation, and Rev Kaye Ronalds, Presbytery Minister led a Service of Closure at the Fernlees Uniting Church.
During the service a history of the building and congregation was shared; statements of support from the Presbytery of Central Queensland were offered; and the gathered congregation shared in a liturgy of closure, which prepared the congregation to enter into new and different experiences of worship and fellowship. The Church building entered a new phase of its life as a family home and residence.
